Check If String Contains Another String

Andrei Surdu Andrei Surdu ·

This function checks if a given string contains another string. It uses PHP’s strpos function which returns the position of the first occurrence of a substring in a string. If the substring is found, it returns an integer greater than or equal to 0. If it’s not found, it returns false. This function is useful for checking if a certain word or phrase is part of a larger string.

PHP Function:

function stringContains($str, $substr) { return strpos($str, $substr) !== false; }

// Example
echo stringContains('Hello, World!', 'World'); // true
echo stringContains('Hello, World!', 'Universe'); // false
